Week 4 & 5 Term 4

Bonjour,

Gala was in week 4.  It was awesome, and hopefully the PTA raised lots of money for the school through this.  The money from the gala is going to things like heat pumps in the library, more library books etc.  I was there for the whole gala because my mum is part of the PTA.  The theme was Sports Mania, and it went from 5-8pm.  We have been doing more practice for athletics in during week 5 because athletics is next week!  I can't wait, and I really hope I do well so I can go to WIMS athletics in week 8.  Because if I go to WIMS athletics then I will get a badge, and I haven't gotten any badges all year which is pretty bad.  Wish me luck!!!

Week 3 Term 4

Bonjour,

The Light Party was on Saturday, and I went to it with my friends Jessica and Madison.  It was really fun, we were there from 3:50 til about 6:00.  It was so much fun, and I go to the light party every year so on Saturday it would have been my eighth time!  The Light Party started when I first moved into Te Awamutu, and it is on the 31st of October each year, and it is pretty much a Halloween celebration.  The best thing about the Light Party is that everything is free!!!!  You just come from 3:30 onwards and then you can go on rides and play lots of games, and have fun.  This event is organised by the Te Awamutu churches an it is an amazing event, so thank you to all the people who organised it for us, it is very much appreciated.

Week 2 Term 4

This week the main event was our schools Grandparents Concert.  From 12pm onwards on Friday we were allowed to show our grandparents around the school, and show them what we have been doing for the past three terms.  At one o'clock we took all the grandparents into the hall for a concert.  There were Kapa Haka acts, the last song from our production 'Battle of the Bands', some songs from our band, a performance from our Jump Jam competition group, and lots more.  It was a really great day, and my grandparents came as well, but they didn't stay for the concert because I wasn't in it.  I think that the grandparents really enjoyed themselves on Friday, at least I hope they did, and I'm going to try and get involved in something next year.

Week 1 Term 4

It's already!
This year has gone really fast, and I can't believe I'm going to be a year 8 next year, it feels like just yesterday I started here.  We haven't done much for the start of the term, but on Wednesday I went sailing, and it was REALLY fun.  We learnt how to sail, then we sailed in pairs, and then we learnt how to sail by ourselves!  Milly, our instructor let us play lots of games when we had learnt how to sail.  We had to chase after balls, and if you didn't get one you had to try and steal of others.  It was an amazing experience, and a big thank you goes out to Milly who was our instructor, and a really good teacher.

Letter To The Twenty-First Century

This is my poem that I wrote all by myself.  I think it is quite good.

Week 10 Term 3

Bonjour!

I came second in speeches this week, second out of all the year sevens in the school.  It was so scary when I had to say my speech in front of the whole school, but everyone said that I did great. Everyone was really proud that I had come so far, and I didn't really mind if I hadn't gotten a place anyway because at least I made it to school finals!  My speech was about how technology is affecting face to face communication.  Everyone thought it was really interesting.  For the year eight speeches, only Oksana got a placing, and her speech was about how competitions are a good thing.  All the people who got a place for speeches, get an award at the end of the year.  Another good thing about coming second in speeches is that I get my photo on the achieves board!  The achieves board is for people who make big achievements, and represent our school, and I'm going to be on it!  Can't wait until next term starts, but I also am looking forward to the holidays, so I can have a break.
