Wellington
Last week I was in Wellington for the whole week on camp. We all had heaps of fun doing exciting activities all around Wellington city. I hope I can go to Wellington again, next time with my family so I can show them some of the places I went to.
Zealandia:
Zealandia is a great big wildlife reserve, in which endangered animals are kept so they are saved from going extinct. At Zealandia we did a big walk all around the park we saw lots of different types of animals such as: birds, insects and we even got to touch a tuatara!
H2O Xtreme:
H2O Xtreme is the Upper Hut Pools. We had a lot of fun there as well, there was three hydro slides; a dark one, a light one and a yellow one that is like a slide, there was also a non-stop river. I had a go on all of them. It was so fun!
Carter Observatory:
Carter Observatory is a place where you can learn about space. We saw a learned lots of fascinating things. We learnt about different planets and their moons. One of the exhibits had a little piece of the moon, with a little sign above it saying 'Touch The Moon', so everyone got to touch the moon! It was really cool. After looking around we went into a dark room with a screen on the roof, on the screen we watched a little clip about space and then we saw some of the pictures made in the stars.
Parliament:
When we went to Parliament it was a really amazing experience for all of us. We learnt quite a bit about what happens in Parliament and met two people who are part of Parliament; Barbara Krulger and Andrew Little. We even got to go into The Camber, the room where all the big decisions are made. When we were in there they were arguing about housing in New Zealand, it was really interesting.
Capital E:
At Capital E my group did a movie making activity, what you did was you could make mountains and trees and rivers, it was quite fun, but my favourite part of when we were at Capital E was when we made a video called Once Upon A Crime, I played Reporter No.2 and I also played Beauty, from 'Beauty and the Beast'.
Wellington Zoo:
At Wellington Zoo we saw lots of amazing animals like; cheetahs, meerkats, we even saw penguins!
It was a really fun trip. While we were there I got a gift for each person in my family. I got a little badge each for my siblings and a little tiger key chain for my mum.
Snorkeling:
We all went snorkeling at Island Bay, it was really amazing. I was scared at first to get in the water, but then soon settled in. We saw lots of cool sea life like; different coloured fish, lots of paua, and a giant crab! It was so fun that in the end I didn't want to hop out.
Holocaust Centre:
The Holocaust Centre was really cool. I learnt a lot about The Holocaust that I didn't know. The one thing I found interesting was their collection of one and a half million buttons. They explained to us that a school had decided to collect them to represent how many children were killed in The Holocaust. It was really sad that so many children died, but it was amazing how one school had decided to do that to represent all those children.
Museum Of Wellington:
We learnt lots at the Museum Of Wellington about the Wahine Disaster. The Wahine Disaster is a big cruise ship that crashed in the middle of a storm. In the Wahine Disaster about 51 people died, we watched a video of the disaster and it was really sad, some of the people survived died the next day from a disease, and some of the lucky survivors didn't die the next day, but lived a normal life again.
I had a really great time in Wellington, I had never been to Wellington before and now I'm glad I did, so an extra big thanks to all those parents who helped us go on camp, we couldn't have done it without you. :-)

Week 7 Term 1
We are going on camp on Sunday and I can't wait! I have never been to Wellington before so it will be a really exciting experience, but I still need to remember to pack warmer clothes because Mrs Crowe said that it is a bit colder down in Wellington. In Wellington are going to do lots of cool stuff like; snorkeling, swimming, visiting The Beehive, and loads more, it's going to be really fun!
